Comparison
A Tidio alternative for Shopify teams: Gatwyn and Tidio compared
How Gatwyn and Tidio differ on pricing, WhatsApp, Shopify orders and AI, and when Tidio is the better choice.
Updated 14 October 2026 · 4 min read
The short answer
Tidio started as a live chat for websites and is popular with small online shops: it has a free plan, an app in the Shopify App Store and Lyro, its AI agent. Gatwyn is new and in free beta, and is built around a shared inbox for teams whose customers write mostly on WhatsApp and Instagram, with the Shopify order next to every conversation.
The biggest difference is how you pay: Tidio counts conversations, Gatwyn counts the people who answer.
Side by side
What Tidio offers comes from its own pricing page, checked on the date at the top of this page. Features and prices change, so check them at the source before deciding.
| Gatwyn | Tidio | |
|---|---|---|
| How the price works | Per agent, in euros, conversations not counted | By billable conversations a month (those a person answers), several seats included |
| Free plan | Free during the beta | Yes, with 50 billable conversations a month |
| Channels | WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, email, website chat | Live chat, email, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp |
| Shopify | Orders and tracking beside every conversation, on the Scale plan | App in the Shopify App Store; Shopify actions from the Growth plan |
| AI | Pilot drafts replies or, where you allow it, answers on its own from your articles: in free beta | Lyro AI agent, billed per conversation it handles |
| Maturity | New, in free beta | Established, with many reviews |
How the prices compare
Tidio charges by the number of conversations your team answers each month, with several seats included, and Lyro is billed separately for each conversation it handles. When the shop grows, the bill grows with the number of conversations, even if the team stays the same.
Gatwyn charges for each person who answers, whatever the number of conversations: Starter at €15 per agent per month billed annually for WhatsApp and email, Grow at €35 with Pilot, and Scale at €69 with the Shopify orders beside every conversation. A shop with one person and few conversations may pay less with Tidio; a small team with many WhatsApp and Instagram conversations knows its bill in advance with Gatwyn.
When Tidio is the better choice
We would point you to Tidio if:
- you get few conversations a month and the free plan is enough;
- your customers mostly write in the chat on your website;
- you want an app you install from the Shopify App Store in a few clicks;
- you want an AI agent with a long track record in small online shops.
When Gatwyn may fit better
Gatwyn is worth a look if:
- your customers write mostly on WhatsApp and Instagram, not on the website chat;
- you answer many conversations and want a price that does not grow with them;
- two or three people share the work and need owners, statuses and internal notes;
- you are happy to use a product in beta, free while the beta lasts, and tell us what to improve.
