Comparison
A Gorgias alternative for small Shopify stores: Gatwyn and Gorgias compared
How Gatwyn and Gorgias differ on pricing, channels, AI and language, and when Gorgias is the better choice.
Updated 14 October 2026 · 4 min read
The short answer
Gorgias is an established helpdesk built for e-commerce, used by many Shopify brands, with a long list of integrations and an AI agent that already answers customers. Gatwyn is new and in free beta. It is built for small teams that answer customers mostly on WhatsApp and Instagram, it is priced per agent in euros, and both the app and our support speak Italian and English.
Neither is better for everyone. The sections below say where each one fits, including when we think Gorgias is the right choice.
Side by side
What Gorgias offers comes from its own pricing page and help centre, checked on the date at the top of this page. Features and prices change, so check them at the source before deciding.
| Gatwyn | Gorgias | |
|---|---|---|
| How the price works | Per agent, in euros, conversations not counted | By monthly ticket volume, in US dollars, not per agent |
| Channels | WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, email, website chat | Email, chat, social, SMS, voice and WhatsApp |
| Shopify orders next to the conversation | Yes, on the Scale plan | Yes |
| AI | Pilot drafts replies or, where you allow it, answers on its own from your articles: in free beta | AI Agent answers customers, billed per automated interaction |
| Language of the app and support | English and Italian | Support in English |
| Maturity | New, in free beta | Established, with many integrations |
How the prices compare
The two models reward different shops. Gorgias charges by the number of tickets each month, and its AI Agent is billed for each conversation it handles automatically. Gatwyn charges for each person who answers, whatever the number of conversations: from €15 per agent per month billed annually, and €69 per agent per month on Scale, the plan with Shopify orders beside every conversation.
A shop where one person answers a small number of tickets may pay less with ticket pricing. A shop where two or three people answer many conversations, especially on WhatsApp and Instagram, knows its bill in advance with per-agent pricing. In both cases WhatsApp conversation fees are set by Meta.
When Gorgias is the better choice
We would point you to Gorgias if:
- you want an AI agent with a long track record at high volumes;
- you rely on many e-commerce apps (reviews, subscriptions, returns) that it already connects to;
- you handle high volumes with a large team working in English;
- you also need phone and SMS support in the same tool.
When Gatwyn may fit better
Gatwyn is worth a look if:
- two or three people answer customers and you want to know the cost in advance;
- most of your customers write on WhatsApp and Instagram;
- you want the app and the people who help you to speak Italian;
- you are happy to use a product in beta, free while the beta lasts, and tell us what to improve.
